I had the honour of working with a group of the most wonderful pregnant ladies the other week! Love Your Bump Maternity, a fabulous Maternity store in Spruce Grove needed a new product line shot for this summer, and these were some of their beautiful and stunning volunteer customer/models! Dramatic Belly: Edmonton Maternity & Baby Photographer
I love love love maternity photography.
First of all, I have to say that as a photographer, I’ve seen the truth that women can be so self conscious and self depreciating. Its sad we dont often truly value ourselves and our bodies. But when we are pregnant, there are such a range of emotions we go through each trimester as we grow, and eventually, there is this acceptance. Yes, have a giant belly, but its because there is this amazing new life inside there. How often in a womans life are we so relaxed about our bodies, that we want to show off our stomaches and how big we’ve grown?
I have this HORRIBLE horrible snapshot of myself pregnant, on a beach at a family reunion with a horrible dress (only comfortable thing that fit) and my stomach is HUGE, ( a house! ) in fact, I think it was almost as big as my ankles had swelled. It was August, and I swear they did not have any cute maternity clothes or stores back then. I think I had maybe 3 outfits I wore the whole time? I envy all these ladies who are having babies nowadays. Think about back to when our mothers were pregnant, they didnt have all these gorgeous clothes! I regret not getting NICE belly photos.
But on to Ms. Summer….
When my clients Summer & Robert came in for maternity photography, I saw they were such a cute young couple. They were referred to me by one of my favorite clients Amber. I loved the fact that Summer wanted images of Robert’s tattoo’s and muscles with her belly, such a cool contrast.
And clothes? This gal is not in any maternity jeans I’ve seen before! I dont think this lady could have looked any more fantastic.
I could see that Summer had already reached the point where she was ready for the pregnancy to be done, and I loved how young and excited her and Robert were. They already know they are having a boy, who will be called Oryn. In fact, he is due today! I can’t wait to meet this new little guy. All this waiting and expectation, and you know something wonderful will happen but it hasnt happened yet. If there is truly something wonderful to experience and preserve, its the memory of the expectation and anticipation. And wonder and love.

Recently I met the enchanting couple, Carly and Thomas, for a maternity photoshoot. I was amazed to how wonderful Carly looked who is due in October.
I love these images because if you look at their faces, you can actually see their joy, it shines from their eyes. Congratulations to them and their new family, I wish them all the best in the future.
