HOW TO PREPARE

FAMILY

WHAT TO WEAR: You don’t have to be ‘matchy matchy’ and have everyone in the same colour if you don’t want to. I usually recommend having one unifying element in your colour choices, such as everyone wear some kind of various coloured blue jeans, or shirts that are all different shades of the same colour. But its not necessary, and I feel families with variety in their colour choices look the most natural. I do ask you avoid large patterned prints.

If you want a super dramatic studio look, you could all wear head-to-toe white on a white background, or black on a black background, to have the ultimate focus on your faces.

OUTDOOR PHOTOSHOOTS: If you wear glasses that darken in the sun, you may consider bringing a pair that do not. I cannot photoshop a sunglass tint out of your glasses.

Please bring weather appropriate coats and footwear. A family splashing in rainboots and mudpuddles would be darling!

MATERNITY SESSIONS:

WHEN TO SCHEDULE: Maternity shoots are best during the beginning of your last trimester. I prefer to have your belly photos not too close to your due date in case baby comes early, or you have complications and just don’t feel up to having your pictures taken.

WHAT TO BRING TO: Your partner may come along and be present in some of the photos. Remember to make sure they have clean socks! Other children may be involved in the photoshoot with advance notice, but you must bring the other parent or a caregiver to look after them while I focus on you.

WHAT TO WEAR: Wear loose fitting clothing on the day of your shoot to avoid impressions on skin. (Jogging pants rolled down or a dress work great).  Flowing skirts, tanks and jeans or basic underwear and simple clothing make the best maternity photos, avoid outfits with loud patterns. I prefer to keep maternity photos simple so the focus is on you.

PROPS: You may want to bring a special object for your shoot like baby shoes , clothing or blankets you have gotten for your child, that could be included at a later session date with baby when they are born.

BABIES

BOOK THE RIGHT TIME: You know best what times of day your child may be more awake and happy, please book at a time that is least disrupting to your child’s schedule. Please bring snacks, diapers, bottles or drinks with you.

Basic session time is one hour, no matter the co-operativeness of the child. Please try to plan snacks or feeding time before or after the session if possible. However, I know life doesnt always work out that way!

BREASTFEEDING: If you are breast feeding please feed your child beforehand, or if you wish, it can be incorporated into the shoot for special memories of your time together with your child. If your child requires a break for feedings during your session, please book your session another half hour so not to limit photography. Sessions that run over scheduled time will be charged at an additional $50 per half hour, which may not be possible if there is someone booked after you.

TEEN LIFESTYLE/GRAD PHOTOSHOOTS

These sessions are highly customized to suit the individual. Its highly important to dress the very best way that shows off your personality. Each session is customized to the individual and wardrobe, props and locations will be discussed at the time of booking.
